MISUNDERSTOOD RELIGIOUS CONCEPTS
“ Jesus answered and said unto him, verily verily I say unto you, EXCEPT A MAN BE BORN AGAIN, he can not see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3.
To those of us who read the Bible, being born again is one of the most misunderstood religious concept. Some people think it’s the name for Christians who are holier than others. Some use it to refer to the over zealous Christians while some use it to say someone is morally upright. These definitions are at best incomplete for those that are even true.
Many people miss the main idea behind the term Born Again. The term Born Again is not a human concept and did not originate from man. It also was not used to describe religious zealousness or a hollier than thou life style. The term Born Again came from Jesus Himself. He did not use it to describe a people or a life style. He stated it as a CONDITION an ONLY CONDITION to enter heaven.
I’m yet to meet anyone in my life who has agreed that heaven is real and hell exist but will love to end up in hell. No one has ever told me that. In fact I have interacted with people who believe that their lifestyle at the moment won’t guarantee them heaven but something would still happen before they exit this life and they will end up in heaven. The unfortunate thing is that many who have this believe are already in hell and it’s too late for anything to happen to take them to heaven.
Jesus Himself told us that “Except a man is born again, he can not see the kingdom of God.” In other words, there’s no other way, no other alternative, no other means, no other door, no other route, no other conditions can make a man enter heaven except being BORN AGAIN. He by this statement made it clear that, morality, religious zealousness, hollier than thou attitude and charity are not enough in themselves to take a man to heaven.
I just want to remind us that, BEING BORN AGAIN is not a term for certain category of people. It is the condition for entering heaven. If you hope to enter heaven some day. If you believe that something would happen between now and when you will exit this life to enter heaven, this is to inform you that what must happen is that, YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN.
Being Born Again is not a title or a name, it is a condition. The only condition for entering heaven.
